I’ll admit it. Nearly twenty years ago, I spelled website as Web site. And with good reason — until 2010, the AP Stylebook said to do it.
I hadn’t thought about it in years until a fellow writer asked me how I was spelling it today. He recalled that I was a real stickler about “Web site” when we once worked together.
Thinking back, I began using “website” a couple start-ups ago. I never liked “Web site” and was more than happy when it jumped the shark.
It’s interesting to not that times may change, but not the New York Times, which is still using the “Web site” varietal.
